The things we miss...

I can't speak for everyone. I can't attempt to paraphrase the combined experience of the Army, Marine Corps, Air Force and Navy into one simple blog. I only speak for myself and I truly hope you find the things you are looking for here. This isn't a place to complain about politics, religion or simple life. I only seek to express what I believe what were potentially the best days of most of our lives. Read this blog on the days you want to remember, the days you want to forget, the days when you have to ask yourself "Have I made a difference? Will people remember me? What is my legacy?" You will not only we be remembered in the annals of history, but our stories, songs and shared experiences will define warfare in the 21st century. So I invite all to read, share and most importantly move forward.

This is our shared story. This is our legacy. We answered the call, we met the need. A requirement for warfighters was published and we answered. I only seek to tell OUR story. Regardless of branch of service, we all share one thing in common; the war(s) in Iraq and Afghanistan. So remember this blog. Remember it on the days when you ponder what you are doing with your life and  why it all matters. Remember this blog when you think that suicide is the best way out. Remember that you stand not alone, but shoulder to shoulder with THOUSANDS of your brothers and sisters. We WILL stand together and face the world that is left after the war. After we have left the service and started families. After we have started jobs. I hope you can find something here, something that carries you day to day. Find what you are looking for.

Never forget, you are never alone. On your darkest day, I'm always available. We have left the darkest times of our existence behind us. You're not alone. I have walked the path with you. I also live the aftermath. You aren't the first to be awoken in the middle of the night with soaked sheets, sweating and in a panic with no real reason why. You aren't the only one to to fear falling asleep, wondering what horrors await your dreams. I've been there, hell, I'm still there. But together, we can go forward.

Share this blog with your friends if you find it helpful. Hell, don't share it, it doesn't matter to me.. I'd be a liar if I said that this blog isn't the best way for me to move past the war. I want to move on, and I can't be the only one.

Thank you for joining me in this journey. I hope you find the motivation to be who you are inside, much like myself.

Yours truly,

James
